Steps to reproduce:

I had previously disabled Recommendations by Pocket from appearing in the new tab. My browser version was 77. I updated to 78.

Actual results:

Pocket recommendations were enabled when I re-opened the browser

Expected results:

They should have stayed disabled

Also, I tried this again on another computer and got the same result.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

We should try disabling stories again and see if it happens again on next release.

Ensure you disable it via the checkbox on about:preferences#home, or from inside the gear in the top right of a newtab page.

There was a change landed in 78 bug 1446276, that might have caused this, it changed the way to track if it's on or off, and I wonder if we missed something.

I'm also wondering if this is a 1 off now that 1446276 is landed, and setting it off now sticks for future updates.
