User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:129.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/129.0
Steps to reproduce:
I turned off "Show an image preview when you hover over a tab." Then I maximized Firefox to full screen and attempted to close a tab.
Actual results:
Clicking on the close tab switched to that tab and briefly flashed a preview of the tab.
Expected results:
The tab should have closed.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Tabbed Browser' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

This appears to be an issue with the drag & drop preview, not tab preview. Moving to Core:Drag&Drop

I see that if I try to drag the tab from the left border of the close button it starts a dnd session, I wonder if this is a case where you inadvertently moved the mouse between mousedown and mouseup, causing a drag to start.
Probably the whole hover area of the close button should not cause a drag.

I can confirm that I am not dragging the tab; this happens simply when I click anywhere on it.

DOM: Copy & Paste and Drag & Drop is not correct for this bug. Moving back to Firefox/Tabbed Browser.

I couldn't reproduce the issue in the latest Firefox 133.0 and Nightly 135.0a1 versions on macOS 13. I followed the steps you provided, disabling the Show an image preview when you hover over a tab setting, entering full screen, and attempting to close a tab. However, it did not show a preview before closing the tab.
@steele.tom, are you still experiencing this issue on your side? If so, could you please let me know if you are able to reproduce it in a new profile?

I’ve tried again to reproduce the issue in the latest Firefox 138.0.1 on macOS 15, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to reproduce it. Since this issue seems to be intermittent, as mentioned in Comment 7, it’s very difficult for us to reproduce it reliably. I’m marking this as qa-not-actionable for now. Please keep us posted if you notice the issue occurring more frequently. Thank you.
